Before we can do anything else, StationCAD needs to collect your dispatch data. This data is normally a text-based message that includes time, location, unit data, and comments/notes. You should be receiving this data from your communications center now. The StationCAD team will work with you and your communications center to determine the best way to collect your data. Typically, this is done via one of several ways:
This method is the easiest to configure but is the least consistent in terms of timing. Several factors can affect how quickly the email is received and processed by our servers. (Requires the Hosted Print Target Subscription)
- Intercepting a printout sent to an IP-based Printer at your station.
This method requires additional network configuration and can be utilized with either the installation of a small Windows Service (StationCAD Print Target Service) that runs in the background of an always-on computer at your station or through the Hosted StationCAD Print Target Service. This method is more reliable and provides a faster response time to processing your incident data when it is received. The hosted option also provides a hands-off approach to managing the collection of your data.
- Receiving data directly from communications center through web services.
We can work directly with your communications center to have dispatch data sent to our servers. This is the fastest method available and also provides you a hands-off approach to managing the collection of your data. (Requires the Hosted Print Target Subscription)
